YAC At Us: How To Support Someone With Mental Illness

Hosted by You Are Collective at the new Staples Spotlight, this workshop is for individuals from all walks of life to learn more about supporting people with mental health and illness challenges as well as starting the conversation.

We'll be focusing on four key takeaways:

1. Learn what signs and symptoms can look like for different people with mental illness.

2. Learn how to open or keep the conversation going around mental health and illness with your peers and loved ones.

3. Learn from people with mental illness how best to support individuals going through challenges.

4. Learn about and how to access local resources.

This is not only for people living or supporting someone with mental illness, this is also great general knowledge to better understand mental health + illness in the community and how we can all be part of the conversation + advocacy!

Although this is a free event, there is an opportunity to donate when you register for your ticket. 100% of proceeds will go directly towards our #1MillionCampaign, specifically providing trauma counselling at Connect Counselling in Kelowna BC.

You Are Collective
You Are Collective is a local Okanagan initiative to raise awareness and increase education for mental health and illness. When we (Michael & Rebecca) first sought out to raise money for mental health, we did it based on the lack of resources and accessibility we noticed while we were going through our own struggles. We often felt alone and isolated as the stigma around mental health and illness affected us whether it was at work, school, home, public ... You name it. And the devastating part is that it's still there. We noticed a huge gap in the mental health community and set to work using apparel and our voices as a vehicle for our movement.
