2022 Kelowna Polar Bear Dip

We're back online! We regret to inform you that we have made the tough decision to cancel our in person Polar Bear Dip at Tugboat Beach on January 1 due to the worsening COVID-19 situation. With the consideration of the community at heart we do not feel it would be socially responsible to host the event at this time.

This year marks our 8th annual Polar Bear Dip and although we've had to move virtual again we need your support more than ever!

It's time to be #FreezinForAReason!

Who are we?

The Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS) is a unique and powerful local non-profit organization that serves the Okanagan. CRIS is largely fuelled by a team of dedicated volunteers all with a commitment to the well-being of the local community. CRIS offers experiential trips that enable all people, regardless of ability, to participate in outdoor activities. Utilizing a variety of adaptive equipment to assist people with disabilities, we offer programs suited to everyone - from the beginner explorer to the seasoned wilderness enthusiast. This year we have a lofty goal of raising $50,000 to fund our programs and necessary adaptive equipment. At CRIS we want to ensure every child, youth, adult, and senior of all abilities has the opportunity to access outdoor recreation.

How to participate:

  1. Register and donate on Trellis
  2. Prove you're a Polar Bear - do a dip in the lake, an ice cold bath tub, jump in a snowbank, feel free to get creative!
  3. Take a video of your challenge and submit it through social media to be entered to win some great prizes.
  4. Videos can be submitted through facebook or instagram and must have @crisadaptiveadventures tagged and use the hashtag #CRISPolarBearDip. Video submissions will be accepted until January 9th

We would love for you to participate in the dip virtually and for you to share this over social media and challenge your friends!

Prizes include 2 ski passes to Telemark, 4 H20 swim/gym passes, $75 gift card to MEC, and many more... They will be awarded for the most creative and Polar bear like dips.

Thank you for your continued support and help in making the outdoors more accessible in 2022.
