Grizzly Bear Spirit Pin, Pewter Jewelry, 2 1/8" x 1 7/8"
Both old and new world aboriginal cultures revered the brown or grizzly bear as a totem of power. Its human-like qualities often led to nicknames like "old man of the woods." For the Pueblo people, the left paw being from the heart side (as depicted), was revered as an amulet. Two of his favorite Alaskan foods, berries and salmon, are concealed within the design.
This pewter pin has two tack backs and military-style clasps
