2023 Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner
The Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation is delighted to announce the return of our magical summer event, The Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner. Once again, guests will gather at long tables filled with family, friends and colleagues, enjoying wonderful food and drink in an enchanting atmosphere, and demonstrating the kind of tremendous community spirit that ensures the very best hometown healthcare.
Each guest will be treated royally, greeted with a champagne reception in the magically transformed space on the South Plaza of Courthouse Park on The Square in Goderich. Mingle with friends, then be seated beneath the sparkling canopy of the event tent to enjoy a spectacular sit-down meal followed by an exhilarating live auction.
We have been able to accomplish so much because of our generous donors - thoughtful caring people, like you. We are humbled by the community’s support of these projects and so, once again, we are asking for your help. Our goal is raise $250,000 to support urgent and mission critical upgrades at AMGH, and all funds from the Alexandra Rose Dinner will be allocated to the Foundation's General Fund in support these important needs at AMGH.
Stepping up, as a community.
Sometimes the need is flashy or tugs at the heartstrings - as when the community rose up to provide funds for a new CT scanner, or the neonatal incubator and bassinets for our tiniest patients. But sometimes, the desperate need is less appealing, as some of our highest priority needs are right now. When a dollar is allocated to a specific need like the CT scanner, or for mental health initiatives, for instance, it is held in trust by the foundation for that need alone and cannot be transferred to use for other priorities. This means funds for other equipment like operating room lights or ceiling lifts or even exam beds is harder to find funding for. For this reason, the $250 000 fundraising goal of The Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner will be directed to the foundation's general fund, so that we are able to finance the less flashy, yet mission critical and urgent needs, that will continue to advance our capacity to provide the very best in hometown healthcare.
Meeting the need, together.
Whatever the need, The AMGH Foundation has one priority: To raise funds to support the equipment needs of the Hospital which is the cornerstone of our community. And our caring and generous community continues to step up to meet these needs, enabling our incredible healthcare team to better care for you and your loved ones, should the need arise. Help us make sure tools in their toolbox are the very best available.
Guest Attire - Dress Code in Effect
Drawing inspiration from new traditions in long table dinners and Dinner en Blanc, The Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner will embrace a white colour aesthetic.
Aligning with our décor and ambience, guests will be required to dress in white!
In keeping with a sense of community, dress does not need to be formal, and creativity is encouraged! Everyone dressing in white will create a sense of unity and beauty, consistent with the gorgeous atmosphere created by our design team.
We hope you’ll find this an exciting way to participate creatively with us! With that in mind, we ask that there be no black or coloured clothing, please.
Presenting our Champagne Reception, we are thrilled to welcome back The Kinsmen Club of Goderich as the proud sponsors of this effervescent moment as guests arrive! Second Streetlight's Kin will cheer and delight as we mingle in the first magical moments of the evening. Extending their generosity even further, The Kinsmen Club of Goderich will also be pouring your favourite libations throughout the evening. Bringing a wealth of experience and hospitality to the table, we are so grateful for this generous pledge of support from a wonderful community partner!
Music by Trash Panda Brass!
Trash Panda Brass is a new and exciting voice in the Toronto brass band scene with a large following, having appeared on the cover of the Whole Note magazine; performed at TD Jazz Fest, and Small World Festival; and recorded their first EP, all within the first year of conception. Their home however, will always be on the streets where they are “retooling the art of busking into a kind of amazing outdoor ambush” - The Whole Note
In an effort to bring music and joy to as wide an audience as possible, they regularly play at community events, festivals and educational workshops and can still be seen playing on the streets of Toronto. With all arranging done by members of the band, Trash Panda is known for their upbeat and fun loving tunes, paying homage to quintessential queer hits and icons. Trash Panda Brass is proud to be here and queer!

The Legacy of Queen Alexandra
Alexandra (Caroline Marie Charlotte Louisa Julia) - the namesake of our Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, and Queen from 1901 to 1910, was immensely popular, and a generous advocate of access to healthcare for those living in poverty. In 1912, she granted her patronage to Alexandra Rose Day; an annual drive to sell roses in order to raise funds for the sick and needy. This charity has become an institution in the United Kingdom and is today known as the Alexandra Rose Charity. This was her most cherished legacy and life’s work. The Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner is inspired by Alexandra’s patronage and advocacy for quality healthcare for all.
