BGC Okanagan Pink Shirt Day Breakfast Presented by Telus
BGC Okanagan’s celebration of kindness and lifting each other up at the annual TELUS Pink Shirt Day Breakfast will return to an in-person event this year with activities in both Kelowna and Penticton.
Pink Shirt Day has always been a meaningful day for BGC Okanagan, as it follows their core values of belonging, respect, encouragement and support, working together and speaking out.
The goal is to reach $40,000 in donations that will assist BGC Okanagan to offer programs that support children and youth in learning empathy, caring, understanding, inclusion, diversity and community engagement. It will also help continue to provide safe spaces where BGC Okanagan can provide systemic opportunities to all children and youth.
Retired NHL player, author and professional speaker Aaron Volpatti will be the special guest at the event in Kelowna at the Laurel Packinghouse. He will share his story of perseverance having made it to the NHL after suffering horrific burns on 40% of his body after a campfire accident. This will also be live-streamed to those at the Pink Shirt Day event in Penticton, which will be held at Penticton Secondary School.
Thanks to TELUS, and other community supporters, BGC Okanagan can offer these two events that will take place on Wednesday, February 22 from 7 AM to 9:30 AM.
Attendees in Kelowna at the Laurel Packinghouse will receive a buffet hot breakfast, enjoy the keynote speaker and a few other surprises. The event in Penticton, held in Penticton Secondary School, attendees will be served a hot breakfast, will enjoy a live stream of the guest speaker.
BGC Okanagan is also looking for more sponsors to join the movement and be included the TELUS Pink Shirt Day, if you would like to join our kindness movement, please reach out to hsidhu@bgco.ca.
