Irene celebrated the

unlimited potential

in everyone

A big-picture visionary capable of driving incredible change, Irene dedicated much of her time to meaningful partnerships that helped companies bring their ideas to life.

Giving back generously to her community, Irene mentored countless engineers, colleagues, Canadian businesses and beyond; was a role model for hundreds including women in STEM, and a treasured advocate for adults with special needs.

The Canadian technology and advanced manufacturing sector lost one of its greatest champions this year. Her sudden loss on May 8, 2022 was felt far and wide and many have been searching for a meaningful way to pay tribute to her legacy.

Join us to celebrate Irene

Irene was a visionary, trailblazer and inspiration. Few people were as loved and respected as Irene in the Canadian advanced manufacturing landscape.

With that, it was decided by Irene's colleagues, friends and family to celebrate her through a tribute event to build on her life's work and the incredible contributions she made personally and professionally.

Held on November 23rd, 2022, we will gather to honour Irene's impact and legacy by helping many people reach their full potential. The event will benefit two of Irene's greatest passions:

Active Lives Canada

We will support their vision to build a first-of-its-kind, ground-breaking, one-stop therapeutic centre serving the unique requirements of adults with exceptionalities who have 'aged out' of the resources and funding they need to thrive.

The Irene Sterian Scholarship for Women in Engineering (in perpetuity, starting in 2023)

We are working together to establish a living legacy by creating an endowment fund that will inspire a new generation of aspiring women engineers to follow in Irene's footsteps - studying engineering at the University of Toronto, learning on the job via a paid internship in the advanced manufacturing sector and becoming the trailblazing roles models of tomorrow.
