Child Abuse Prevention Month: #GoBlueAB

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPM) and Child Advocacy Centres (CACs) across Alberta are raising awareness of child abuse and the important role communities play in keeping children and youth safe.

We #GoBlue to honor the 1 in 3 Canadians impacted by some form of child abuse.

We #GoBlue to spark conversation and provide important education about child abuse to our communities

We #GoBlue to celebrate the resiliency of those who have experienced abuse.

This month we invite you to #GoBlueAB to show your support!

How to #GoBlueAB

Here are a few ways YOU can #GoBlue!

  • Purchase a Blue Heart! These hearts will be displayed on the CACAC wall so children, youths, and their families can see and feel the support from their community. Help us create a wall of blue by purchasing your heart today! Include an optional message of courage that will be written on your behalf. (see our social media for how we did this last year!)

  • On October 24th Wear Blue proudly and get social with it! Tag us and use the hashtag #GoBlueAB. Do this through your workplace (Blue Jean Day?!), neighborhood or school. Want to rock your blue all week or month?! Go for it!

  • Join us at the Red Deer Rebels game on October 22nd & 23rd and see the Peavy Mart Centrium #GoBlueAB

  • Be an Advocate by rocking some CACAC merch! Show off your courage by sporting a CAC baseball hat, using a CAC water bottle or gifting the special kiddo in your life with a Braven Stuffie!

  • Sip Blue by heading to our friends at Tiffany's Steakhouse and Lounge for a "Braven Blue" Epitaph Gin Cocktail!

  • Gift a loved one (or yourself!) with a Braven Blue Edible Arrangement! Visit our friends at Edible Arrangements for some specialty Blue treats! Including Braven Blue dipped strawberries, blue swirl brownies and swizzle blue stripped fruit baskets!

  • See the Lights! On October 24th, City Hall light and the Capstone District lights will be turn blue in honor of CAPM! Take an evening stroll to see them and let is spark conversation. Take a picture and tag #GoBlueAB @CentralABCAC @liveincapstone and @cityofreddeer

**All merchandise items are available for online purchase & pick up at the Centre (shipping currently unavailable at this time)**

Organized by
Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre
The Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre is a not for profit organization rooted in the protection and recovery of today’s most innocent and vulnerable – our children. The Centre is comprised of a collective that is driven by the courage to support children, youth, and their families affected by abuse, enabling them to build enduring strength and overcome adversity. We work in a collaborative partnership with the Central Region Children's Services, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Justice, Alberta Education, the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre and the RCMP. Together we harness our collective courage to provide children with supported recovery. It takes courage and bravery for a child to share their story of abuse, for families to bring their children forward, to believe, to listen without judgement, and to seek justice. Supporting the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre today is an investment in the promise and possibility of a healthy future for our children and our community.
