Workshop Details

This interactive workshop will review our current state of childcare as well as the Community Childcare Planning Report conducted earlier this year (see below for more details). We will also conduct a quick recap of part 1, held on Jan 20, 2021.

The first session saw passion and innovative ideas to fix the childcare crisis as well as some new directions to pursue.

Part 2 of this workshop will build on these ideas and we will continue our facilitator-led breakout rooms. You will be asked further questions on different ways to support recruitment and retention of ECE's.

Professional Development Certificate will be given for 1.5 hours.

Community Child Care Planning Report?

What Is It?

The Community Child Care Planning Report was the result of Care For Our Kids, a research project to gain insight into child care needs of Central Okanagan families. It’s was conducted by Urban Matters CCC on behalf of the District of Lake Country, City of Kelowna, City of West Kelowna, District of Peachland, Childhood Connections and Westbank First Nation. Through research and information collection via focus groups, interviews, and a large workshop, an Action Plan was completed. This Action Plan is a guide for the Province to help improve child care in the Central Okanagan.
