United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin is an integral part of our community’s social service sector.  Without United Way and our partners, our community would look much different than it does today. Over the past 5 years (2018 -2022) United Way has invested over $10 million into the community through our annual community investments. That’s $10 million raised by our local community and invested in our local community to support important and life changing supports like food pantries, emergency shelter, mental health crisis lines, mentoring and after school programs for youth, seniors’ programs – the list is long. But the need continues to be significant. In the most recent funding cycle, funding applications to United Way were more than 2.5 times what was available to invest. The stressed economy, lasting impacts of the pandemic and funding stability from all sources at an all time low is putting unprecedented pressures on our system and creating increasing demand for services that has not been seen before. 

Golf United is United Way’s signature golf tournament event bringing together donors who want to make a difference ensure solutions to some of our community’s most pressing social issues are possible. The sold-out Golf United 2022 and 2023 events collectively raised over $64,000 for The Home for Good Campaign, which helped to build 72 supportive housing units in Guelph and assist United Way’s housing partners to serve individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness.  

Every year, the United Way campaign starts at $0. This year, funds from Golf United will be an important start to raising as much as possible to support the ongoing work of United Way and the many programs and services supported by these efforts. Your participation will make it possible to support a number of critical issues – poverty, mental health, homelessness, inequity, isolation and hunger. Each contribution will make a difference and fuel collaborative approaches that can truly make a difference.
