The Jilly Box Award

I am so excited to share something very special with you that we are working on over here at Team Jilly Box.

As you know, we donate a portion of our proceeds from The Jilly Box sales to a charitable organization each quarter.

The Jilly Box is passionate about helping to create a more equitable and fair society and we know the important role education plays in achieving this vision.

We are pleased to establish an award fund to provide financial support and mentorship opportunities to under represented and marginalized students in pursuit of academic success.

The award will be open to Black and Indigenous and Students of Colour at Okanagan College.

With the goal of reaching $50,000 by the end of the Fall 2021 semester, The Jilly Box is making an initial donation of $15,000 and will match all donations up to a maximum of $10,000, enhancing the impact of each donor's gift.

If together we can build a fund of $50,000, 20 underrepresented students will receive bursaries of $2,500, helping them ease some of their financial burdens as they pursue their educational endeavours.

The impact of student awards

My name is Maria Kruger, I am of Okanagan/Shuswap descent. I accepted a seat in the Certified Dental Assistant certificate program at Okanagan College, starting August 31, 2020. I am pleased to notify you that I have an 18-month-old son. He was accepted into a daycare facility days before the program started.

This award allows me to pay for my childcare costs. With my son being my first I had no idea how much childcare costs would amount to. This has been a huge learning process for me being a new mom. I am grateful for individuals such as yourself, who contribute to college/university bursaries and make the financial burdens a little less. I would like to “Thank-you” from the bottom of my heart. I plan to be a successful student, graduating from this program June 2021.
