17th Lobster Festival - It's on!
2020 (and COVID) was a bummer. Christmas was a bit less cheery, the year was hard and no fun events happened in town. This year is different. With the arrival of spring, and vaccines for everyone on the horizon, 2021 is shaping up to be a great year! While we're still not allowed to host our classic event, we figured, why not have a Lobsterfest? So that's exactly what we're doing!
The Rotary Club of Salmon Arm Daybreak is excited to announce its 17th annual Lobster Festival happening this year in a backyard near you on May 29th 2021. To stay compliant with British Columbia’s COVID Guidelines, we're doing a bit of a different take on the Lobsterfest we all know and love.
This year, we're doing a bit of a hybrid event. We'll have pick-up and take-away fresh Atlantic Lobster, Gourmet Chicken Meal, or Vegan Crab Mushroom Cakes (pre-packed as 100% compostable picnic kits to be enjoyed in your backyards or wherever you choose with up to 10 family and friends!) as well as both an online virtual silent auction and our classic live Auction, held online, accessed from your backyard!
Have you got your tickets yet?
Over the Past 25 Years.....
Proceeds from the Lobsterfest have been the single biggest source of funds for our Rotary Club. Since our club was founded in 1996, we've been giving it our all to support the town we love. Some of the better known areas we've been able to give back are the development of the children's splash parks at both Fletcher and Blackburn Park, the aid in the purchase of medical equipment and the upgrade of palliative care rooms at the Shuswap Lake Hospital, and support to all the local community foodbanks. We have also provide funding that assists local youth to take part in a variety of cultural, educational and environmental programs. Internationally, we provide continued support for the Safe Motherhood program in Guatemala and we are developing a project which will assist a rural community in Nicaragua to upgrade their drinking water system. Like 1.2 million Rotarians in over 120 countries, we provide financial support to help eradicate polio worldwide. Additionally, a portion of the funds raised from our last Lobster Festival supported the development of JoeAnna’s House in Kelowna, BC. JoeAnna’s House provides accommodations for family members from communities like Salmon Arm who have loved ones receiving care at the Kelowna General Hospital.
Holy smokes the Food! We've been lucky enough to partner with The Shucuterie Culinary Team to provide the fantastic meals for this years events. As always, we'll have freshly caught and shipped Atlantic Lobster, (and an exquisite gourmet chicken dish as an alternative) with all the fixings. They'll come prepared and ready to eat in picnic kits. So swing by at your time slot, grab your lobster, swing by the liquor store and welcome the long summer days in with a feast to celebrate!

This year we will be running our usual silent auction - almost - as normal. In fact, it might even be easier! We'll be hosting it live, right here on this website. Bids will open on May 1st and will be open until 9Pm on the day of Lobsterfest, the 29th.
We couldn't pull this off without all the generous support shown by dozens of local (and provincial-wide) businesses. Their continued support of donations towards the silent auction are a huge part of the reason we've been able to pull this off for 17 years. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
What is a Lobsterfest without the live auction? Certainly not this year's event!
Saturday, May 29th, at 8:00pm
Saturday, May 29th, at 9:00pm
The live auction will go on! Items up for bid will be announced on May 1st and they're shaping up to be pretty awesome. The live Auction will be coordinated right here on this site, with the actual "live" part of it being hosted on Zoom & Youtube Live. You'll be able to bid from home, right here on this website.
After a delicious meal, some good wine, and an evening with family and friends outside, bidding on a ski trip might just seem like a great idea!
