Monte Carlo began in 1977 when a student of the Doctor of Medicine class found themselves facing unexpected medical costs. Their classmates took it upon themselves to raise money that would make attending medical school more accessible for this student. Students in the Memorial University Faculty of Medicine have continued to organize this fundraising initiative, resulting in financial support for over a hundred local charities in 44 years.

Our pre-show starts at 7:00pm NST, with the full live event will begin at 7:30pm NST, live streamed from the Quidi Vidi Brewery taproom. Our host for the evening, Keith Power, will take us through the 1920s style entertainment provided by Spirit of Newfoundland!

We have partnered with local restaurants who will be offering takeout for the evening, as well as Quidi Vidi Brewery who will have some unique offers for the night. This is a great opportunity to make MC your own, sit back, relax, and enjoy an hour and a half of local entertainment, special guests, and silent auction excitement. Tristan Davis of Mer et Soleil has created the Dewdropper's Punch, our signature cocktail that you can make at home. Ticket holders will be emailed the recipe and prep instructions for the cocktail, and are invited to tune into the pre-show to make their cocktails with Tristan.

Minister John Haggie will be bringing special greetings to the 44th Annual Monte Carlo Charity Gala! We are so thrilled to hear from Minister Haggie, who has been a key leader in the province throughout the COVID response and beyond.

We are so thrilled to have Petrina Bromley, from the broadway award winning show Come From Away, performing for Monte Carlo 2020! Petrina hails from Newfoundland and Labrador, and is well-known for her role as Bonnie in Come From Away, as well as her numerous other accolades and performances at home and abroad. We are so excited for her performance this year, which will include a story about her audition for Come From Away. 

The Dr Jack Hand Legacy Foundation was established to commemorate and celebrate the life and work of Dr Jack Hand, a beloved pediatric hematologist/oncologist. The Foundation financially assists families in Newfoundland and Labrador who have a child being treated for a hematology/oncology related illness at the Janeway Hospital. It is unique in its commitment to helping with the many layers of need that cannot always be served by other organizations.

Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) helps young adults dealing with cancer in their late teens, 20s, and 30s through its unique and life-changing local, national, and digital programs. YACC's mission is to support young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer - to be the connection to peers, bridge out of isolation, and source of inspiration. Every cancer, every stage, YACC’s got your back. YACC is based in St. John’s, NL and focuses on six programs, with more information about these on the website.
