Barbara Snyder - What is on the other side and how do I get there?

The initial inspiration for this door was a photo of two colourful macaws in an enclosure at a tropical resort. The vibrant feathers were the starting point for this piece but I also needed to find some way to make use of the window opening. In a pet store I spotted toys for parrots including a multicoloured ladder that became the model for the window bars. Foliage coming through the bars suggests there might be something even brighter to explore on the other side.

Barbara, who has been painting and crafting for many years, loves to find ways to incorporate found materials. Most of her paintings are landscapes or abstracts; they’re always colourful and usually include a touch of turquoise.
