Verna Stone - Triptych series

The expression ‘The wolf is at the door’ is used to indicate times of stress and hardship. On the first cupboard door, I flipped it. The wolf at the door becomes the affirmation ‘You are protected’.

My second cupboard door depicts ‘The cupboard is Bear’, affirming ‘You have all that you need.’

From the third cupboard door, a Barred Owl calls out ‘Who cooks for you?’ The associated affirmation is: ‘You are resourceful and clever’.

My vision of a brighter future involves the care, preservation and restoration of nature. Everyone will have a safe, affordable home in a welcoming community. Nature and green space will be close at hand.

Verna is a graduate of the Camosun Visual Arts Program

and holds a BFA from UVic. She feels very privileged to be able to create in such a beautiful place.
