and help keep a local business going.
Lorne Ave Park Bug Hotel
The project involves the construction of a new community park in the "Old East Village" area of London, Ontario. This area is in a very low income area where parkland is in high demand for children in the area. Our contribution will be monetary and will build an insect "hotel". This is a sensory, learning, and envrionmental project that will attract all ages.
Bikes To Africa
Werner Humann was a member of Rotary since 1973. He would see good bicycles being put into the garbage by Canadians, ending up in a scrap yard. These bikes just needed a new tire, seat or brakes. The Rotary Club of London East is working with Mbabane City Council and Rotary Club of Manzini Eswatini on a shipment of bikes to Africa. The club collects donated bike and parts to send in a shipping container. The goal is for someone in Africa to learn how to make an old bike new again. They hope to ship 450 bikes and parts to Africa in the summer of 2021. The biggest cost of this project is the shipping cost to Africa.
