Spread the Local Love

Building on the success of the Giving with Givergy online campaign, BCLC is excited to launch the Spread the Local Love campaign, focused once again on supporting local charities and businesses, and doubling the impact. With every purchase of a gift card to a local business or successful silent auction bid on the campaign page, participants are able to support big by shopping small!

How To Purchase, Bid and Donate:

1. Scroll below to access the Silent Auction or Make a Donation.

2. To bid, select an item, enter your amount and then click 'Place Bid'. Use the 'Max Bid' function and the system will bid for you up to the amount entered.

Please note, there are also some items available to purchase right away. On the item, it will say 'Buy it Now' below the bidding function and ask you to input the amount to 'Buy it Now'. Once purchased, that item is yours.

3. Register your details and then 'Confirm Your Bid'.

4. Receive outbid text notifications and bid again! If you are at the event, keep an eye on the leaderboard screens to see if you're still the winning bidder!

Items purchased will be available to the buyer on February 22 and new items will be added daily. Following the close of the campaign, a member of the team will be in touch about allocating your purchase cost or donation to your charity partner of choice and prizing distribution. For information about the auction items and delivery please contact Denver Sparks-Guest at events@inventaworld.com

This campaign is proudly supported by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

Greater Vancouver Food Bank

https://foodbank.bc.ca/

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then. Today the GVFB provides assistance to approximately 8,500 people monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore.

We provide food support to more than 90 community agencies throughout these communities, such as housing agencies, women and children’s shelters and after school programs, who in turn provide hot meals and snacks to thousands of people each week including those struggling with homelessness. We reach and support a broad spectrum of people in need through our agency partners.

The GVFB receives, purchases and distributes approximately 5 million pounds of food each year. Because of our size, scale and unique position in the local food system, we have significantly greater buying power than can be achieved at the grocery store, and can double each dollar donated, maximizing the impact of our donors’ generous contributions.

Proceeds from this event will go towards the Starfish Backpack program - providing food to children who have been identified at a school level as not having enough food to carry them through the weekend. The backpacks are packed with easy-to-prepare and nutritious items by volunteers at the food bank and delivered to the schools. For the 2020-2021 school year, we are distributing 130 backpacks across 13 schools in our community.

Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation

https://lmhfoundation.com/

As a community hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital is nearby for emergencies; we care for ageing family members close to home; we safely deliver thousands of babies; we perform surgery for cancer patients, and we perform important diagnostic MRI scans for thousands of local residents each year.

Your gift today is helping us adapt to changes in health care practice and upgrade our technology to ensure our residents have the modern, quality care they deserve. You are also helping us ensure every patient, regardless of their medical emergency, is receiving the care they need despite challenges presented by the pandemic. Through donor support we are able to acquire life-saving surgical equipment that helps surgeons perform faster, less invasive surgeries, and more surgical equipment to reduce the time between surgeries and in turn, reducing waitlists.
