Spread the Local Love
Building on the success of the Giving with Givergy online campaign, BCLC is excited to launch the Spread the Local Love campaign, focused once again on supporting local charities and businesses, and doubling the impact. With every purchase of a gift card to a local business or successful silent auction bid on the campaign page, participants are able to support big by shopping small!
How To Purchase, Bid and Donate:
2. To bid, select an item, enter your amount and then click 'Place Bid'. Use the 'Max Bid' function and the system will bid for you up to the amount entered.
Please note, there are also some items available to purchase right away. On the item, it will say 'Buy it Now' below the bidding function and ask you to input the amount to 'Buy it Now'. Once purchased, that item is yours.
3. Register your details and then 'Confirm Your Bid'.
4. Receive outbid text notifications and bid again! If you are at the event, keep an eye on the leaderboard screens to see if you're still the winning bidder!
Items purchased will be available to the buyer on February 22 and new items will be added daily. Following the close of the campaign, a member of the team will be in touch about allocating your purchase cost or donation to your charity partner of choice and prizing distribution. For information about the auction items and delivery please contact Denver Sparks-Guest at firstname.lastname@example.org
This campaign is proudly supported by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
We are teaming up with 10 charitable organizations to 'Spread the Local Love'.
Burnaby Hospital Foundation
The great success the Foundation achieves goes beyond the efforts of dedicated staff – it extends to every resident of Burnaby. The ongoing achievements made would not be possible without the community. Your support will help transform a beloved community hospital into a state-of-the-art facility that will ensure a Bright Future and meet the growing health care needs of Burnaby and East Vancouver for generations to come. Proceeds from this campaign will go towards the Proud History, Bright Future Campaign. To learn more, visit: https://www.bhfoundation.ca/brightfuture/
Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation
The Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation, comprised of a small group of dedicated volunteers, has been successful in purchasing three ($3M) million dollars worth of much-needed equipment for all of the departments within the hospital in Williams Lake, BC. The Foundation has been responsible for the purchase of two CT Scanners, the echocardiogram, a hematology analyzer, two mammography units, and most recently, four Panda units for the maternity ward.
Presently, funds are being raised to purchase:
• portable baby monitors for newborns
• portable ultrasound machines specific to babies
• two labour and delivery beds for the maternity ward
Castlegar and District Community Services Society
Castlegar and District Community Services is a multi-service agency with 42 years of service in our community and surrounding district. We are excited to participate in raising funds that will be directed to our recently purchased location. This new location will be providing affordable housing to people with barriers, winter shelter services and Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction. Our agency has worked with vulnerable populations for over 41 years. There has never in our area been a formalized response to harm reduction or overdose prevention. We are working towards filling this gap in our community.
Fort St. John Hospital Foundation
The funds raised will go to provide far-reaching benefits allowing resources to be readily available to purchase medical equipment, reducing the time from need to fulfillment to provide and enhance patient care and comfort. Up to date medical technology makes a positive and life-saving impact in healthcare at the Fort St. John Hospital and Peace Villa Residential Care Facility as people of the community and area rely on the Fort St. John Hospital for medical procedures, surgeries, emergency treatment, routine laboratory tests, and more. Together, with our community supporters, we will continue to be strategic to maintain a positive impact in the community and area.
Greater Vancouver Food Bank
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since then. Today the GVFB provides assistance to approximately 8,500 people monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore.
We provide food support to more than 90 community agencies throughout these communities, such as housing agencies, women and children’s shelters and after school programs, who in turn provide hot meals and snacks to thousands of people each week including those struggling with homelessness. We reach and support a broad spectrum of people in need through our agency partners.
The GVFB receives, purchases and distributes approximately 5 million pounds of food each year. Because of our size, scale and unique position in the local food system, we have significantly greater buying power than can be achieved at the grocery store, and can double each dollar donated, maximizing the impact of our donors’ generous contributions.
Kamloops Food Bank
Proceeds from this event will go towards the Starfish Backpack program - providing food to children who have been identified at a school level as not having enough food to carry them through the weekend. The backpacks are packed with easy-to-prepare and nutritious items by volunteers at the food bank and delivered to the schools. For the 2020-2021 school year, we are distributing 130 backpacks across 13 schools in our community.
Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation
As a community hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital is nearby for emergencies; we care for ageing family members close to home; we safely deliver thousands of babies; we perform surgery for cancer patients, and we perform important diagnostic MRI scans for thousands of local residents each year.
Your gift today is helping us adapt to changes in health care practice and upgrade our technology to ensure our residents have the modern, quality care they deserve. You are also helping us ensure every patient, regardless of their medical emergency, is receiving the care they need despite challenges presented by the pandemic. Through donor support we are able to acquire life-saving surgical equipment that helps surgeons perform faster, less invasive surgeries, and more surgical equipment to reduce the time between surgeries and in turn, reducing waitlists.
Share Family & Community Services
Since 1972, SHARE has helped individuals and families meet basic needs, build support relationships, deal effectively with challenges and develop their potential and feel welcomed within their community. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges it has brought, your support is needed more than ever. Funds raised will go to support programs and services that assist vulnerable individuals, children and families across the Tri-Cities, and help to CONNECT, ENGAGE and STRENGTHEN our community.
SHARE’s services include, among others:
• counselling, prevention and education for youth and adults
• food for hungry families
• early intervention therapies for children with special needs
• services to seniors to help them remain independent and stay connected to their community
• support for newcomer and refugee families that assists them to integrate into their new community
Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation
Funding received from “Spread the Local Love” would make a difference to healthcare right here at home in the North. Its’ locals helping locals – We’re all in this together and what better way to show it than supporting a fun and interactive campaign that will help fund equipment for our patients throughout the region. #safeathome, where it matters the most!
Victoria Hospitals Foundation
Proceeds from this campaign are going towards the It’s Critical campaign. It’s Critical is a $7 million community fundraising campaign that aims to nearly double critical care capacity by building and equipping a new High Acuity Unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Your support allows our hospitals’ equipment to be purchased more quickly, and ensures our healthcare teams stay on the leading-edge of technology and treatment to provide the best possible patient care.
We are stronger together and giving makes us all better.
