Student Investment Funds have become one of the most invaluable learning opportunities for finance students with more than 500 student-led funds at US and Canadian colleges and universities including UBC, UVIC and TRU in BC.
The Okanagan College School of Business prides itself on real-world learning for students. Our finance program continues to grow and our future Chartered Financial Analysts and Certified Financial Planners would be even better prepared if they had experience with real investing.
Okanagan School of Business students and faculty, in partnership with the Okanagan College Foundation, are seeking the community’s philanthropic support to create a student investment fund to benefit students and our economy.
How it works
Nothing quite compares to hands-on experience. That is even truer when it comes to managing investment portfolios. Simulation funds just don’t cut it -- they don’t expose students to the fiscal responsibility of a real fund.
With the support of donors like you, a Student Investment Fund will provide opportunities for students to gain experience in security analysis, investment management, and leadership prior to seeking careers in the industry.
Students will analyze, recommend and execute approved trades with the support of a dedicated Advisory Board comprising of business professors, finance industry experts and portfolio mentors.
Dividends for students & community
Local and national organizations will benefit by having access to skilled finance students who have industry experience before they graduate empowering them to hit the ground running.
When the Student Investment Fund reaches $500,000, returns will be distributed back to students in the form of bursaries and grants, supporting Okanagan College students in their studies for decades to come.
First milestone complete to launch fund!
Thank you to all of our community donors for helping us reach our initial goal of $100,000 in order to launch the Investment Fund.
Our next goal is to build the fund to $500,000 at which point we will use the returns to create scholarships and bursaries for Okanagan College students.

Recognition Levels
Gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a donor recognition plaque in the School of Business.
Gifts of $25,000 or more will have the opportunity to name a portfolio.
A gift of $250,000 will have the opportunity to name the fund.
All donations to the fund will receive a tax receipt, and you will have the opportunity to watch their progress.
