West Parry Sound residents, businesses, community leaders and politicians have wanted to bring a pool and recreation centre to region for decades. In June 2021, provincial and federal governments committed to invest $23.3 million in the project. Now, The Archipelago, Carling, McDougall, McKellar, Parry Sound and Seguin, and two non-voting First Nations: Shawanaga and Wasauksing are working together to raise the remaining funds required to complete the project.

Hugging the shores of Georgian Bay, the Town of Parry Sound is the world-renowned jewel of the 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay. Located approximately 2 hours north of Toronto, and forty-five minutes away by air, Parry Sound is the commercial hub servicing the District’s year-round and seasonal population. Parry Sound is also rich in arts, culture and heritage, and is home to the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts and Bobby Orr Hall of Fame.
