BabyGoRound’s vision is to ensure all vulnerable families have the essential resources to safely care for their babies, through a shared and connected community. We are the only non-profit in BC dedicated to providing low-income families with everything they need to safely care for their babies. We focus on items that create the greatest impact in a family’s quality of life. We collect quality used baby gear from families across the Lower Mainland and match these critical supplies to parents and babies who need them most. Families choose a custom ‘baby gear kit’ from our store-like headquarters to access cribs, strollers, highchairs, bouncy chairs, playmats, and other nursery items—like clothing, bedding, and books—to carry their newborn through the first two years of life.
This March we aim to provide our community with a sustainable way to feed their baby. Having a breast pump allows women to go to school or return to work, which benefits the babies’ health, mom’s mental health and decreases the families’ financial stress of having to purchase formula. With the economic climate putting added pressure on vulnerable families, this piece of gear has become more critical for those who need them in order to thrive. It has also been a contributing factor to the increase in breast pump referrals we have received, which are up 70% so far this year.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase 75 breast pumps. We have partnered with a local distributor offering medical grade pumps at 50% of the retail value, specifically for the families we serve! Every $135 raised provides one family with this essential piece of gear, contributing to food security while simultaneously reducing parental stress and household financial stress.
