9 Best OneCause Alternatives for Nonprofit Events in 2026

Most nonprofits searching for OneCause alternatives are not unhappy with the platform. They have run good galas on it, often for years. What changed is the renewal.

An annual contract sized for a full event programme arrives at an organization that runs one gala and one golf tournament, the database team mentions that constituent data still reaches Raiser's Edge NXT as a file to import and takes two to five weeks to reconcile, and someone asks whether the on-site staffing the team values could be replaced with a product built not to need it, at a lower total cost.

That is the reader this guide is for: a development director and an events coordinator re-evaluating an established platform at renewal, with a database administrator checking the integration claims and a board weighing the contract against the calendar. So what is the best OneCause alternative?

It depends on which of three categories you are actually shopping in, and most readers arrive comparing all three without realising it.

Full event platforms run tickets, tables, sponsorships, check-in, silent auction and paddle raise in one system and are the like-for-like replacements. Auction-focused tools do the bidding well and leave ticketing and CRM to something else.

General-purpose donation platforms are free or near-free and have added event features onto a donation-form core. We segmented the nine alternatives below into those three groups so you can discard two thirds of the list quickly.

We assessed each alternative on event depth, on how it writes into Raiser's Edge NXT and how long reconciliation takes afterward, on total cost for a $200,000 event including processing and onsite staff, and on event-day reliability.

We built Trellis, so read our assessment of our own product with that in mind. The rubric is published below and it is the same one we use on our best-of guides, so a platform's score is identical wherever it appears.

The verdict in a nutshell

We evaluated nine alternatives to OneCause for US nonprofits raising $200K or more a year through events. Nonprofits evaluating a move typically prioritise Raiser's Edge NXT integration depth and cost per event over feature count.

Trellis, our own product, is the best overall alternative for teams on Raiser's Edge NXT: the only real-time Raiser's Edge NXT integration at constituent, gift, appeal and event participation level, reconciliation done the same night instead of over the following weeks, and a flat $5,000 a year. GiveSmart is the closest like-for-like replacement.

Handbid is the best pick for mobile bidding, and BetterWorld is the best free option and the only other platform here with a native Raiser's Edge NXT sync, covering constituents and gifts with a fund on its paid tiers.

Data is current as of September 2026 and pricing was verified against each vendor's published pricing page or review-site listing. OneCause itself does not appear as a row because it is the baseline every option is measured against. Processing fees, platform percentages and donor tips are listed next to headline prices because they are usually the larger number.

Why Nonprofits Look for a OneCause Alternative

OneCause is an established platform that many readers of this page have used successfully for years. The three reasons below are drawn from recurring patterns in G2 and Capterra reviews and Blackbaud Community threads, not from a sales deck, and at least one of them is a fit issue rather than a quality issue.

The contract is sized for a full programme, not one gala

The Professional Auction and Event package is $2,995 per year and covers unlimited events and campaigns, including peer-to-peer and year-round giving. Reviewers at organizations running one or two events a year describe paying for breadth the team never opens.

OneCause's pay-as-you-go option from $200 per event exists for exactly this case, so for some readers the fix is a different OneCause plan rather than a different vendor.

Raiser's Edge NXT data still arrives as a file

OneCause's Raiser's Edge integration is Importacular for OneCause, a plug-in from Zeidman Development that runs inside the Raiser's Edge database view.

It is a real import tool with saved mappings, and it is still an export from OneCause followed by an import into Raiser's Edge NXT after every event, which is why Blackbaud Community users describe flat files going back and forth.

For a database administrator that means batching, de-duplicating and re-attributing each time, typically two to five weeks of work after every event. The platform runs the night well; the reconciliation afterward is where Blackbaud customers most often start looking.

The learning curve and the cost of on-site staff

Among the most cited cons in OneCause's G2 reviews are learning difficulty and confusion during setup, alongside the most cited pros of ease of use once learned and support quality. On-site event staffing, which reviewers value highly, is an additional service that customers tell us to budget $2,000 or more for, and the people sent are usually junior event staff rather than engineers. Some teams re-examining renewal ask whether a product built not to need a person in the room would deliver the same outcome at lower cost; on a $200,000 gala, the OneCause total once the 5% or annual fee, 3% to 4% processing and a staffer are counted is typically $11,000 to $14,000. In the reviews themselves, one G2 user writes that "the back end can be visually confusing at times," a Capterra reviewer says it was "not the most user-friendly; I believe we required support at every step," and another Capterra reviewer notes that "OneCause does not integrate with the CRM system we use." Guest messaging draws its own complaints: reviewers describe text and email templates with formatting and character limits, and templates available only as texts when they wanted to send emails.

How We Evaluated These OneCause Alternatives

Every alternative was scored one to 10 on six criteria, then weighted. The weights and scores are identical to our best-of guides for gala and auction software, so a platform ranked here carries the same number there.

On the integration and reconciliation columns, a native sync at every level scores 10, a native sync covering constituents and gifts with a fund but not appeals, participation or households scores 4 to 6, an import plug-in or paid middleware scores 2 to 3, and a file export scores 1, because moving from weeks of reconciliation to one day is a tenfold difference, not a two-point one. Reliability is scored on whether the platform runs the night without vendor staff in the room, not on whether staff are sold.

One factor matters more for a switcher than for a first-time buyer: migration.

A platform that is excellent but cannot import your item catalogue, contact history and prior event data is a different proposition when your next gala is twelve weeks away, so Setup on every entry addresses migration directly.

Our top pick
#1

Trellis

Best Overall Alternative for Raiser's Edge NXTFundraising Tech Score: 9.6/10

Best for: organizations on Raiser's Edge NXT running one to three large events a year who are leaving an established platform because of integration depth or contract size, and who do not require vendor staff in the room.

Platform Overview

Trellis is our event fundraising platform for galas, auctions and golf tournaments. If you use Raiser's Edge NXT and you raise over $200K a year through events, it is built for you. Feature for feature, Trellis covers the same ground as OneCause: tickets, tables, sponsorships, check-in, mobile bidding, paddle raise, raffles and guest messaging. The difference is that we integrate with Raiser's Edge NXT, and OneCause does not.

We are the only platform here that integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT at every level in real time, so the reconciliation that takes other platforms two to five weeks is finished the same night or the next day. Giving is text-first, so if your donors can receive a text message and click a link, they can give, and the platform takes the weight off your team before, during and after the event.

Ticketing, sponsorships, check-in, silent auction, paddle raise, raffles and add-on items run in one system, for a flat $5,000 a year.

The 4 Problems We Built Trellis to Solve for Teams Leaving OneCause

The problem

The integration is an export step with a nicer name.

The most common reason Blackbaud customers call us after years on an established platform is the file.

OneCause's Raiser's Edge NXT path runs through Importacular, an import plug-in: tickets, sponsorships and auction wins leave OneCause as data your team pulls into Raiser's Edge NXT after the event, mapping funds and appeals and resolving duplicates as they go. The platform ran the night. Reconciliation afterward takes weeks.

We are the only platform in this guide that actually integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT at every level in real time: constituents matched with your spouse and household rules, every ticket, sponsorship, winning bid and pledge written as its own gift with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping, event participation records, and sponsorship and organization gift scenarios. That is not a feature, it is the reason customers choose us. Other platforms list Raiser's Edge as an integration. Read the documentation and it is an import plug-in run after the event, a paid middleware subscription, or a sync that stops at a constituent and a fund. We actually integrate.

Every guest is matched to a constituent with your spouse and household rules, every ticket, sponsorship, winning bid and pledge is written as its own gift with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping applied the moment it lands, and attendance is written to the Raiser's Edge NXT event module.

Post-event reconciliation that used to take weeks or months is finished the same night or the next day. The aha moment switchers describe is not that our integration is better than the last one. It is that it works.

The problem

Guests hit a login screen, and the bid never happens.

Every event planner checks the same thing before anything else: can my guests use it? A guest asked to download an app or reset a password in a dim ballroom stops, and every time the login screen wins, a bid or a pledge is lost.

Trellis is text-first and mobile-first. As long as your donors can receive a text message, they can give: a text arrives, they tap the link, and their account opens with no app download, no login and no learning curve.

Outbid alerts, check-in confirmations with table numbers, a day-before reminder framed like an airline check-in and paddle raise prompts all arrive by text, tied to what is happening in the room. Easy enough that nothing goes wrong on the night of. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

The problem

The event planner is the human bridge between systems, and the whole team pays for it.

Most platforms create work before, during and after the event. In the lead-up, colleagues chase the event planner for details that already exist in Raiser's Edge NXT and re-enter them into the event tool.

On the night, staff trained once are fielding questions while the person on the hook for half a million dollars runs check-in. Afterward, everyone is pulled off their real jobs for a month of cleanup.

Trellis does the opposite. Before the event, your team pulls what it needs directly from Raiser's Edge NXT and Trellis, with no chasing the event planner, no manual exports and no re-entering data that already exists.

On the night, staff walk in and it just works, with no prior training required: hundreds of guests are checked in within minutes, and everything volunteers need is in front of them proactively, so the event planner gets to be present rather than stressed and fielding questions. Trellis runs at 99.99% uptime, published live for anyone to check at status.trellis.org, and we build the product so it does not need a person from our company standing in your ballroom.

After the event, the data is already where it needs to be. Nuvance Health Foundation checked in 600 guests this way, and Meals on Wheels saw a 40% silent auction increase and $260,000 raised after moving off an established platform.

The line we hear most often after a first Trellis event is a customer's: "my team doesn't dislike me anymore."

The problem

The contract prices in modules a one-gala team never opens.

Peer-to-peer, year-round campaigns and multi-chapter tools are valuable to organizations that use them and expensive to the ones that do not. At renewal, a team running one gala and one tournament is testing whether the cost matches the usage.

Trellis is $5,000 a year, flat, with 0% transaction fees on eligible checkouts under $3,000, so Finance sees the whole number before signing; there is no module you pay for and never open. Donate Auction Bid, which captures a losing bidder's opt-in while they are still bidding and processes the donation automatically at close, raises up to 15% more per event, and full-page upsells at checkout lift it further. The product is deliberately focused on events, which is also a tradeoff we name below.

Interactive Product Demo

Watch a ticket, sponsorship or winning bid land in Raiser's Edge NXT within minutes.

Pricing

Trellis is $5,000 per year, flat. There is no per-event fee, no percentage of funds raised, no separate charge for the Raiser's Edge NXT integration and no charge for onsite staff, because we do not send any. Transaction fees are 0% or 3.5% + $0.30. With 0% Transaction Fees turned on, Trellis covers the fee on eligible checkouts under $3,000 and your guests are offered the option to add a small contribution at checkout; if they decline, we still cover it. Checkouts over $3,000, and back-office entries through the Sales Entry System or Check-In Tool, are charged at 3.5% + $0.30, and you choose whether your organization or the purchaser covers them.

We are not the lowest headline number in this guide. Price the whole gala before you decide. On a $200,000 event, OneCause's Professional package starts at $2,995 before add-on modules; a staff member at your event is quoted separately and customers who have paid for it tell us to budget $2,000 or more; and processing at the 3% to 4% rates review sites report adds roughly $6,000 to $8,000, for a realistic total of $11,000 to $14,000. GiveSmart lands near $10,000 with its 3.5% processing. Trellis is $5,000, and with 0% fees on the total usually lands very close to that, because few checkouts run above $3,000: 0% covers the tickets, bids and paddle raise gifts under $3,000 that make up most of the night, and sponsorships and large lots above $3,000 pay 3.5% + $0.30, so if $70,000 of the $200,000 comes in over that line, add about $2,450. With 0% off and the organization absorbing every fee, roughly $12,000. An organization running Raiser's Edge NXT has already invested tens of thousands of dollars in its CRM; the platform that writes into it correctly, and gives your database administrator back two to five weeks after every event, is worth more than the one that hands back a file.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

We are the only platform in this guide that actually integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT at every level in real time: constituents matched with your spouse and household rules, every ticket, sponsorship, winning bid and pledge written as its own gift with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping, event participation records, and sponsorship and organization gift scenarios. It is the reason most of our customers chose us. Every other platform in this guide that lists Raiser's Edge as an integration gets there through a file export, an import plug-in your database team runs after the event, a paid middleware subscription such as Omatic that customers tell us typically adds thousands of dollars a year, or, in BetterWorld's case, a native sync that covers constituents and gifts with a fund and stops there.

When a guest buys a ticket or a sponsor confirms a table, we match them to an existing Raiser's Edge NXT constituent or create a new one, applying your spouse and household rules so a couple never becomes two records.

As the event runs, each ticket, sponsorship, winning bid, paddle raise pledge and donation is written as its own gift rather than a lump transaction, with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping applied as the gift lands and fair market value and fees handled the way your Finance team configured them.

Attendance is written to the Raiser's Edge NXT event module, so next year's appeal can query who actually came. Sponsorship and organization gifts have their own rules.

The settings run nine sections deep and cover four levels: campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping; constituent matching with spouse and household rules; the event module and participation records; and gift type. For every one integration point most competitors offer, we have roughly twenty. What customers tell us after their first event is not that it is better than the last integration. It is that it works.

Setup

We can move as fast as you can. Setting up banking, the Raiser's Edge NXT integration and your first event takes one to two weeks; the four to eight weeks you will hear from other vendors is the runway for ticket sales to run, not setup time. Migration from an incumbent covers contact import, item catalogue import from a spreadsheet, sponsor and table setup, and a one-time Raiser's Edge NXT mapping session with your database administrator.

Prior event history stays in OneCause's exports; we do not import past bidding data. Setup is self-guided, with in-product tutorials and training moments that walk your team through each part of the event journey, and our team available at every step. There is no mandatory series of onboarding calls to get through before you launch.

Event-night staff and volunteers need no training on the platform; onboarding is for your database administrator and event lead.

Tradeoffs

OneCause provides on-site event staffing and we do not, by design: the product is built so you do not need a person from a vendor in the room, we are the only company in this space that works this way, and the testimonials after a first event are the reason we keep doing it. If a vendor representative in the room is a requirement regardless, that alone may settle it, and you should budget for it. OneCause offers broader functionality including peer-to-peer, which sits outside our product, and greater brand recognition, which can matter to a board or committee.

We are not the lowest headline price; free and low-cost tools here are sufficient for organizations that do not need CRM-level data integrity, and you should price what free gates and what your guests will be asked to tip. Organizations not on Raiser's Edge NXT get less of the core differentiator.

Switching carries real setup time that matters most when the next event is close, and we have far fewer public reviews than the incumbent.

Support

This is the sharpest contrast with OneCause, so we will be direct. OneCause can put staff in your ballroom, and customers who have paid for that tell us the person is usually junior and could not fix anything when something went wrong.

We built Trellis so nothing goes wrong instead: 99.99% uptime, published live at status.trellis.org, check-in and checkout screens that tell volunteers what to do with no prior training, and the most robust in-product tutorials and training moments in this category.

Onboarding is for the core team, not the room, and it moves as fast as you do: the database administrator maps Raiser's Edge NXT once, the event lead builds the event with guided tutorials, and our team is available at any step by chat or screen share.

On event night your team has a direct line to a named rep on our team rather than a ticket queue. Every customer is nervous about running the night without a vendor in the room before their first event, and the first event is what changes their mind. If a person in the room is a hard requirement for your board, OneCause sells it and you should price it in.

Mini Case Study

Nuvance Health Foundation moved a 600-guest event onto Trellis and redesigned check-in around one-tap arrival with paddle and table assignment, removing the paper line at the door and putting attendance and gifts into Raiser's Edge NXT as the evening ran. Read the full case study.

GiveSmart

Best Like-for-Like ReplacementFundraising Tech Score: 5.9/10

GiveSmart, from Momentive Software, is an all-in-one fundraising, event and donor management platform, and the closest structural match to OneCause on this list: mobile bidding, events, campaigns and a donor CRM under one contract.

Product Overview

GiveSmart runs mobile bidding and silent auctions, event ticketing and seating, fund-a-need, text-to-give and peer-to-peer, with a built-in donor CRM with DonorSearch scoring and livestream integrations. It replaced the former 501 Auctions and Gesture products.

Pricing

GiveSmart publishes two models. The annual subscription is listed at about $3,000 per year with credit card processing at 3.5% (3.95% for American Express). Pay-As-You-Go has no annual fee and a higher all-in processing rate disclosed at signup. On a $200,000 gala the processing line alone is about $7,000, so the all-in cost is roughly $10,000 before setup or add-ons. No free trial.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

Not a native sync. GiveSmart lists Blackbaud Raiser's Edge among its CRM integrations, and the documented path is Importacular NXT, the same third-party import tool from Zeidman Development that OneCause uses, which names GiveSmart as a data source.

For a team leaving OneCause because of the import step, this is the same import step with a different export on the front of it. Matching and fund mapping happen in the tool, not in GiveSmart, and event participation records are not created.

Setup

Sales-led, six to eight weeks for a first gala. Migration is assisted.

Tradeoffs

Reviewers who have used GiveSmart for a decade praise the historical event data in one place and note two things: pricing rises at renewal, and onsite event staffing, once a selling point, is no longer a standard offering; GiveSmart's help center lists an emergency after-hours phone line for event night instead.

G2 rates GiveSmart 4.5 across roughly 160 reviews and Capterra 4.5 across about 200. If you want OneCause's shape without OneCause, this is it. See our detailed comparison.

#3

Handbid

Best for Mobile BiddingFundraising Tech Score: 5.7/10

Handbid is an auction and event platform built around native iOS and Android bidder apps, used by more than 800 nonprofits, schools, foundations and sports teams for silent, live and hybrid auctions.

Product Overview

Handbid runs real-time mobile and web bidding with instant outbid alerts and proxy bidding, ticketing with tables and sponsorships, paddle raise and in-room donations, fixed-price items, tap-to-pay, livestream and chat, and it includes free text-to-give with every package.

Pricing

Published flat annual pricing. The Big Event+ is $1,999 for one auction or peer-to-peer event per year. The Whole Shebang is $2,499 for unlimited events. The Whole Shebang+ is $2,999 with native apps, tap-to-pay and full-service setup. Stripe processing applies on top, and on-site experts are available as a quoted add-on.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Handbid exports bidder, ticket and payment data as spreadsheets and offers no Blackbaud connector, so every record reaches Raiser's Edge NXT by manual import. A team switching from OneCause would be trading an import plug-in for a raw file.

Setup

Three to six weeks, faster with the full-service setup tier. Item catalogue and contact import are supported.

Tradeoffs

The auction experience is the strength and reviewers say so: G2 rates Handbid 4.7 across roughly 220 reviews, and feature scores for auctions run ahead of OneCause's. There is no CRM sync, so the post-event rebuild remains.

For a team whose gala is really an auction with dinner attached, and whose database team can live with an import, Handbid is a strong step down in cost.

#4

BetterWorld

Best Free Auction and Raffle ToolFundraising Tech Score: 5.6/10

BetterWorld is a free fundraising platform with online and live auctions, raffles and giveaways, ticketing, donation forms and peer-to-peer, funded by optional donor contributions and used by more than 100,000 organizations.

Product Overview

BetterWorld runs silent, live and popcorn-style bidding, raffles, multi-tier ticketing with mobile check-in and text notifications, donation forms and peer-to-peer, and campaigns launch in minutes.

Pricing

Free Forever with optional donor contributions. Flex removes the ask for a 2.2% to 5% fee by campaign type. Partner is $1,550 per year plus 1.25%. KeyStone is $5,950 per year plus 1% and includes concierge event support. Processing applies on all tiers. The Blackbaud integration sits on the paid tiers.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

A real native integration, and the only one on this page besides ours, though it stops well short of what we sync.

BetterWorld's own documentation describes a sync of donors as constituents and payments as gifts into Raiser's Edge NXT, each gift assigned to a fund, in real time or as a daily batch that sits pending until approved in Blackbaud, matching existing constituents by email or name and address before creating new records.

It is the integration on the paid tiers rather than the free plan, and it covers donations, tickets and auction payments at the fund level only: no appeal or campaign mapping beyond optional custom fields, no event participation records, no spouse and household rules, and no sponsorship scenarios. It is a constituent and gift sync rather than an import, and we say so; it is also the reason BetterWorld scores 4 on integration rather than 10.

Setup

Same day.

Tradeoffs

Event depth is thinner than the platforms above: table management and paddle raise controls are basic, and support on the free tier is self-serve. Review volume is modest and skews positive on ease of use. BetterWorld's messaging is sharp and its free tier is real; for a small gala with an auction and a raffle it is a reasonable no-cost start.

#5

Auctria

Best for Budget TeamsFundraising Tech Score: 4.9/10

Auctria is a fixed-price auction platform with online, paper and live auction support, ticketing and an event website, under one annual license with unlimited events.

Product Overview

Auctria manages the catalogue and generates bid sheets and display pages, runs mobile bidding, paddle raise, raffles and dessert dash, and covers ticketing, receipting and close-out on a customizable event website.

Pricing

Explorer is free up to $10,000 raised per year. Emerald is $375 per year for up to $50,000 raised and 750 bidders. Diamond is $750 per year with no income cap and 1,000 bidders. Auctria Launch adds assisted setup from $499 per event on an Emerald or Diamond plan, and Stripe processing at 2.9% + $0.30 applies.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Auctria's integrations cover payment processors and email tools, not donor CRMs, and bidder and gift data leave as spreadsheet exports for your database team to map and import.

Setup

Self-serve, one to three weeks. Catalogue and contact import from spreadsheets.

Tradeoffs

The interface has a learning curve; Capterra rates Auctria 4.8 across more than 530 reviews with ease of use the lowest sub-score at 4.5. No constituent sync and no on-site staff. For an organization leaving a $3,000 contract for a $375 license and willing to do its own setup, the saving is real.

#6

Givebutter

Free Online Campaigns and Small EventsFundraising Tech Score: 4.8/10

Givebutter is a free fundraising platform funded by donor tips, with donation forms, peer-to-peer, ticketing, auctions and a built-in CRM. G2 named it the top nonprofit software of 2026.

Product Overview

Givebutter gives you event pages with unlimited ticket types and check-in scanning, silent auctions with mobile bidding and auto-charge, livestream, in-person payments and a free CRM with unlimited contacts. Gala mechanics such as table assignment and paddle raise controls are lighter than the event platforms.

Pricing

Free to the nonprofit with tips enabled, with the suggested tip defaulting to about 15% at checkout. Disable tips and a platform fee applies: a flat 3% on Standard pricing for accounts created since 2025, or 1% to 5% by campaign type on Legacy pricing; auto-charging auction winners triggers the fee. Processing is 2.9% + $0.30. In June 2026 a class action was filed in Pennsylvania (McClintock v. Givebutter) alleging that fees were added to donations without donors' consent; the case is pending and the allegations are unproven. Givebutter Plus starts at $29 per month.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

Not native, and not free. Givebutter's Raiser's Edge NXT integration is powered by Omatic, a paid third-party platform, so the free platform's CRM sync is an add-on from another vendor. Gift sync with campaign, fund and appeal mapping was still an open request on Givebutter's own community board in 2025.

Setup

Same day.

Tradeoffs

Free is real for online campaigns and less so for a gala, where auto-charge triggers the platform fee and a $5,000 table buyer sees a tip prompt. Paddle raise and table management are thin. G2 rates Givebutter 4.7 across more than 2,000 reviews. See also our guide to Givebutter alternatives.

Silent Auction Pro

Best for Paper-to-Mobile TransitionsFundraising Tech Score: 4.7/10

Silent Auction Pro is a long-running auction and event tool for schools, clubs and nonprofits, notable for supporting paper bid sheets and mobile bidding side by side and for including free phone support on event night.

Product Overview

Silent Auction Pro runs an online catalogue with mobile and paper bidding side by side, live auction tools, ticketing and seating, contact and donation management, bundled items, printed materials, leaderboards, thank-you letters and bidder self-checkout.

Pricing

Bidsheet Plus is $449 per year plus 2% of proceeds, capped at $3,500 per event. Bidsheet Pro is $649. Mobile Plus is $749 and Mobile Pro is $899, each plus 2%. Card processing is a flat 2.9%. One annual fee covers unlimited non-concurrent events. A $99 cancellation fee applies after 30 days.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Silent Auction Pro exports contacts, gifts and payments and has no Blackbaud connector. Winning bids reach Raiser's Edge NXT as a manual import with attribution applied by your database team.

Setup

Two to four weeks. Contact import is a $100 service.

Tradeoffs

The interface is dated, and the 2% of proceeds fee grows with your auction. Support is the standout: G2 rates Silent Auction Pro 4.9 across roughly 110 reviews with a perfect support score, and night-of phone support is free. For a committee moving off paper and nervous about the night, it is a gentle transition.

#8

Bloomerang Fundraising

Best for Bloomerang CRM UsersFundraising Tech Score: 4.5/10

Bloomerang Fundraising, formerly Qgiv, is the fundraising layer of the Bloomerang Giving Platform with donation forms, events, peer-to-peer, auctions and text giving built to feed Bloomerang CRM.

Product Overview

Bloomerang Fundraising covers event registration and ticketing, mobile auctions, fund-a-need and text fundraising, with auctions and peer-to-peer in the Pro tier.

Pricing

From $40 per month billed annually for forms, events and text giving. Auctions and peer-to-peer are in the quote-only Pro tier. Bloomerang CRM is $125 per month. Processing applies on top, with Qgiv's published rates at 2.95% to 3.95% + $0.30 depending on plan.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

Not native. Bloomerang Fundraising offers a Raiser's Edge connection through Omatic's ImportOmatic, a paid third-party tool: you set default fund, campaign, appeal and event values and ImportOmatic pulls transactions into Raiser's Edge on a schedule, with packages required to match event price units exactly. It works, and Bloomerang's commercial position is to replace Raiser's Edge rather than to feed it.

Setup

Days for forms, a few weeks for a first event.

Tradeoffs

Everything routes through Bloomerang CRM, which is the point for its users and a migration for everyone else. Some reviewers describe event-night reliability issues on the legacy Qgiv auction tooling and paid card readers. G2 rates it 4.7 across roughly 280 reviews. A OneCause customer on Raiser's Edge NXT would be changing CRMs to make this work.

#9

Donorbox

Best for Donation-Form-Led TeamsFundraising Tech Score: 3.8/10

Donorbox is a donation form and recurring giving platform with event ticketing, peer-to-peer, a text-to-give add-on and a growing CRM.

Product Overview

Donorbox covers donation forms and pages, recurring giving, crowdfunding, peer-to-peer, event ticketing, a kiosk app and text-to-give. There is no auction product, and Donorbox's usage policy prohibits raffles.

Pricing

Standard has no subscription but charges a 2.95% platform fee on donations and 3.95% on events and memberships, plus processing. Pro is $150 per month with reduced fees. Text-to-give is $19 or $50 per month.

Raiser's Edge NXT Integration

No native Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Donorbox connects to Salesforce and HubSpot directly and to everything else through Zapier and its API on the $150 per month Pro plan. A Zapier build can create constituents; gift-level fund attribution is beyond it, so event revenue reaches Raiser's Edge NXT as an import.

Setup

Days.

Tradeoffs

Not an event platform. A team leaving OneCause for Donorbox would be pairing it with an auction tool and a card reader, which is the patched-together stack most readers of this page are trying to avoid. Capterra rates Donorbox 4.8 across roughly 625 reviews for what it does well: forms and recurring giving.

How We Built This Guide

We started with the renewal conversation that brings teams to this search. A contract sized for a full programme at an organization running one or two events. Raiser's Edge NXT data arriving as a file. Modules priced in and unused.

On-site support valued but under review against its cost. An event date that does not fit the incumbent's timeline. Free platforms suddenly on the shortlist beside enterprise software.

We verified pricing against each vendor's published pricing page or review-site listing in September 2026, read integration documentation to separate constituent-level sync from file exchange, and used G2, Capterra and the Blackbaud Community for recurring patterns rather than single complaints. We were deliberate about being fair to OneCause, and the section below on when to stay is not a formality.

This guide is for a Director of Development and an events coordinator reading together at renewal, with a database administrator checking the integration claims and an executive director weighing the annual contract against events per year.

What to Look For in a OneCause Alternative

A switcher already knows what event software does. What you need to know is what it costs to move, and whether the replacement fixes the thing that prompted the search.

1

A Native Constituent-Level Sync Into Raiser's Edge NXT

If the reason you are leaving is a file to import after every event, look for a platform that writes constituent and gift records directly into Raiser's Edge NXT with fund and appeal mapping applied at sync.

Ask each vendor to show a winning bid landing on a constituent record with the appeal attached. Trellis, our own platform, does this natively with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping, household rules, event participation and sponsorship handling; BetterWorld syncs constituents and gifts with a fund natively on its paid tiers and stops there. Nobody else on this page does either.

2

Data Migration and What Does Not Move

If you have five years of event history in the incumbent, ask each alternative what imports: contacts yes, item catalogue usually, sponsors and tables sometimes, historical bidding data almost never. Export everything from OneCause before the contract ends, because access typically ends with it.

3

Contract Timing and Mid-Season Cutover

If your gala is in the spring and renewal is in the fall, map each vendor's time-to-first-event against the date. Self-serve tools can be live in days; Trellis is live in one to two weeks; sales-led platforms quote six to ten weeks. Pre-agree who on your team can approve if the decision-maker is at a conference.

4

Pricing That Matches Your Event Count

If you are paying for a full programme and running one gala, price each alternative for one, two and three events a year, including processing and any percentage of proceeds. Fixed licenses win at one event; packages win at three.

5

A Support Model You Have Chosen Deliberately

If on-site staffing is what you will miss, decide whether you want it replaced with a vendor in the room (not standard at GiveSmart; a quoted add-on at Handbid), or with a product built not to need one and a named rep on the phone (Trellis, Silent Auction Pro). Know what you are buying: the people vendors send are usually junior event staff, and customers tell us they often cannot fix a problem on the night.

6

Gala Mechanics Pressure-Tested Side by Side

If your gala has 400 guests, test table assignment, check-in throughput, paddle raise controls, overtime bidding, outbid alerts and end-of-night checkout on each shortlisted platform before you sign. Donation-first platforms are where these are thinnest.

OneCause Alternatives Pricing Comparison

Total cost, not headline price, is the comparison that matters at renewal. OneCause's own two models frame it: $200 per event pay-as-you-go with a 5% platform fee, or $2,995 per year for unlimited events, plus 3% to 4% processing and quoted onsite staff, which on a $200,000 gala comes to $11,000 to $14,000.

The alternatives fall into a flat annual fee with 0% transaction fees on eligible checkouts under $3,000 (Trellis), fixed annual licenses (Handbid, Auctria, Silent Auction Pro), subscriptions (GiveSmart, Bloomerang Fundraising), and free tiers that convert to a percentage when tips are off (BetterWorld, Givebutter, Donorbox). Processing is excluded below and varies: 3.5% at GiveSmart, 2.9% + $0.30 at Auctria, Givebutter and Donorbox, 2.9% at Silent Auction Pro, 2.95% to 3.95% at Bloomerang, and 0% or 3.5% + $0.30 at Trellis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best OneCause alternative in 2026?

For organizations on Raiser's Edge NXT, Trellis, our own platform, is the best OneCause alternative because it is the only event platform with a native integration at constituent, gift, appeal and event participation level, reconciliation is finished the same night, and it is a flat $5,000 a year.

For a like-for-like replacement with a similar breadth, GiveSmart is the closest match. Handbid is the best pick for mobile bidding and Auctria for a fixed low license.

Why do nonprofits switch away from OneCause?

Three patterns recur in reviews and Blackbaud Community threads: an annual contract sized for a full programme at an organization running one or two events, Raiser's Edge NXT data arriving through an import plug-in after each event, and the cost of on-site staffing under review at renewal. None is a claim that the platform runs the night badly; it runs the night well.

How much do OneCause alternatives cost?

From free to the nonprofit to about $5,000 a year, and the headline number is rarely the real one. Givebutter and BetterWorld are free with donor tips, or 3% and 2.2% to 5% platform fees without. Auctria is $375 per year. Silent Auction Pro starts at $449 plus 2% of proceeds. Handbid runs $1,999 to $2,999. GiveSmart is about $3,000 plus 3.5% processing. Trellis is a flat $5,000 with 0% transaction fees on eligible checkouts under $3,000 and 3.5% + $0.30 above that. Processing is charged on top almost everywhere, from 2.9% to 3.95% depending on the platform, and OneCause itself lands at $11,000 to $14,000 on a $200,000 gala once processing and a staffer are counted.

Does OneCause integrate with Raiser's Edge NXT?

Through an import tool. OneCause's integration is Importacular for OneCause, a Zeidman Development plug-in that runs inside the Raiser's Edge database view and imports exported OneCause data with saved mappings. Blackbaud Community users describe it as flat files back and forth rather than a live constituent-level sync, and reconciliation afterward is measured in weeks rather than hours.

Ask OneCause to show a winning bid landing on a constituent record with fund and appeal attached before you renew, and ask any alternative to show the same.

Can I migrate my historical event data out of OneCause?

Partly. Contacts, sponsors and item catalogues export as spreadsheets and import into most alternatives. Historical bidding data, prior event pages and past guest lists generally do not transfer as live records anywhere; they become exports you keep. Export everything before the contract ends, because platform access typically ends with it.

Which OneCause alternative integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT?

Two do, at very different depths. Trellis, our own platform, syncs at constituent and gift level with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping, household rules and event participation, in real time. BetterWorld syncs constituents and gifts with a fund on its paid tiers, with no appeal mapping, participation records or household rules. GiveSmart routes through Importacular, the same import plug-in OneCause uses, and Givebutter and Bloomerang Fundraising through Omatic's paid tools. Handbid, Auctria, Silent Auction Pro and Donorbox rely on exports.

How long does it take to switch platforms mid-season?

Days for self-serve tools such as Givebutter, BetterWorld, Auctria and Donorbox. One to two weeks for Trellis including the Raiser's Edge NXT mapping session. Three to six weeks for Handbid and Silent Auction Pro. Six to eight weeks for GiveSmart. Add time for contact and catalogue import, and start before the incumbent contract lapses so nothing is stranded.

When should a nonprofit stay on OneCause?

When a vendor representative in the room on event night is a requirement, when peer-to-peer and year-round campaigns are a real part of the programme, when the team runs enough events to use the full package, and when brand recognition matters to the board.

OneCause also has a pay-as-you-go option from $200 per event, so a team overpaying for breadth may only need a different plan.
