8 Best Text to Give Platforms for Nonprofits on Raiser's Edge NXT (2026)
When a development director asks a vendor "do you do text to give," she is usually asking a different question: will my donors be able to use this? Any donor who can receive a text message can tap a link, and that is the whole requirement.
That is why the search for the best text to give platforms for nonprofits keeps growing, and why the term itself has become shorthand for a giving experience with no login, no password and no app.
The trouble is that "text to give" describes three different products. Keyword-and-shortcode SMS programs, where a donor texts GIVE to a five-digit number and receives a link. Text-to-donate links, where the organization sends a message with a giving page in it.
And no-login text-link giving, where a text opens the donor's own account instantly and the gift is recorded against their constituent record.
Every platform in this guide belongs to one of those models, and the model decides whether it fits a paddle raise on Saturday night or a year-round appeal list. It also decides what happens afterward: on seven of these platforms, mobile gifts reach Raiser's Edge NXT as a payout report somebody reconciles over the following weeks. On one, they are on the constituent record before the applause stops.
We assessed each platform on how a mobile gift reaches Raiser's Edge NXT (matched to a constituent or dumped in a payout report) and how long reconciliation takes afterward, on the donor path from text to completed gift, on what happens during a live paddle raise, on event-night reliability, on receipting, and on total cost including processing, platform percentages, donor tips and the shortcode fees SMS programs carry.
We built Trellis, so read our assessment of our own product with that in mind. The rubric is published below, and we scored ourselves on it.
The verdict in a nutshell
We evaluated eight text to give and text to donate platforms used by US nonprofits raising $200K or more a year through events.
Trellis, our own product, is the best overall pick for giving inside fundraising events on Raiser's Edge NXT: if your donors can receive a text and click a link, they can give, and every gift syncs at constituent and gift level the same night. OneCause is the best full-service event platform with text giving included, and it is the platform we lose to most often when a team wants vendor staff in the room.
Give Lively is the best free text-to-donate option, and Tatango is the best choice for large-list SMS programs that need a dedicated shortcode.

Quick Comparison Table
Data is current as of September 2026 and pricing was verified against each vendor's published pricing page or review-site listing. Where a vendor publishes no price, the table says so. Processing fees, platform percentages and donor tips are listed next to subscription prices because they are usually the larger number.

How We Evaluated These Text to Give Platforms
Every platform was scored one to 10 on six criteria, then weighted. The weights match the rubric we use across our event fundraising guides so a platform scores the same wherever it appears.
On the integration and reconciliation columns, a native sync scores 10, an import plug-in or paid middleware scores 2 to 3, and a file export scores 1, because moving from weeks of reconciliation to one day is a tenfold difference, not a two-point one. Reliability is scored on whether the platform runs the appeal without vendor staff in the room, not on whether staff are sold.
Our Scoring Methodology
Raiser's Edge NXT & CRM Integration Depth
25%
Whether a mobile gift is matched to an existing constituent with fund and appeal attribution natively, through an import plug-in or paid middleware, or arrives as an anonymous line in a payout report, and the reconciliation burden inherited afterward
Donor Experience & Giving Friction
20%
Taps from text to completed gift, account or password requirements, what happens when the donor's details are incomplete
Giving-moment Tooling
20%
Pledge capture without card details, paddle raise prompts and live displays, event-triggered messages, auction and ticketing in the same system
Event-day Reliability
15%

Top 8 Text to Give Platforms for Nonprofits in 2026 Reviewed
What are the best text to give platforms for nonprofits on Raiser's Edge NXT? The ones where the donor gives in one tap and the gift lands on the right constituent record with the right appeal, without a phone number to reconcile by hand.
Here is how the top text to donate platforms of 2026 compare on that test, ranked by the score above.
Our top pick
#1
Trellis
Best Overall for Event GivingFundraising Tech Score: 9.6/10
Best for: development and events teams at nonprofits on Raiser's Edge NXT who want the paddle raise, auction close and appeal moment to take seconds on a phone and land in the CRM attributed.
Platform Overview
Trellis is our event fundraising platform for galas, auctions and golf tournaments, and text-first giving is how donors give on it: if your donors can receive a text message and click a link, they can give. If you use Raiser's Edge NXT and you raise over $200K a year through events, it is built for you.
We are the only platform that actually integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT in real time, so a mobile gift is on the constituent record before the applause stops, and the reconciliation that takes other platforms two to five weeks of a donor database administrator's time, roughly $2,900 to $7,200 in salary per event at the US average of about $75,000 a year, is finished the same night or the next day.
Giving is text-first and mobile-first: as long as your donors can receive a text message, they can give, with no app, no login and no learning curve. We are built for giving inside fundraising events, not for year-round SMS marketing, and we say so plainly. Every text can carry a text-to-donate link, and texts can be event-triggered or scheduled to predefined recipient groups.
The 4 Mobile Giving Problems We Built Trellis to Solve
The problem
Mobile gifts arrive in Raiser's Edge NXT as phone numbers and amounts.
Text donations on most platforms land as a payout report. Someone reconciles each line against existing constituents by hand, guesses at the spouse, and sorts the gifts into the right fund a week later. The database administrator feels this first, and the database administrator is usually the one who starts the search for a new platform.
We are the only platform that integrates directly with Raiser's Edge NXT in real time, and that is not a feature, it is the reason customers choose us. Other platforms list Raiser's Edge as an integration. Read the documentation and it is an import plug-in run after the event, a paid middleware subscription, or a connector that carries phone numbers but not gifts. We actually integrate.
Every guest is matched to a constituent with your spouse and household rules, every ticket, sponsorship, winning bid and pledge is written as its own gift with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping applied the moment it lands, and attendance is written to the Raiser's Edge NXT event module.
Post-event reconciliation that used to take weeks or months is finished the same night or the next day. Cathedral Catholic High School ran a paper-free paddle raise for 700 guests with gifts flowing into the CRM as they were made.
The problem
The gift was lost at the login screen.
A donor decides to give during the paddle raise. The platform asks for an account, a password they set last year, or an app download over ballroom Wi-Fi. The ask lasts ninety seconds and the moment is gone before the form loads.
Trellis is text-first and mobile-first. As long as your donors can receive a text message, they can give: a text arrives, they tap the link, and their account opens with no app download, no login and no learning curve.
Paddle raise prompts, outbid alerts and check-in confirmations all arrive by text on cue, tied to what is happening in the room, and a donor with an incomplete record can pledge in seconds with only a name and email.
Easy enough that nothing goes wrong on the night of. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
The problem
The team runs the appeal on paper and pays for it all week.
Most platforms create work before, during and after the appeal. Beforehand, someone builds a pledge card list from a Raiser's Edge NXT export and re-keys it into a texting tool.
On the night, volunteers collect cards, the AV team never gets a live total, and the event planner fields questions instead of watching the room. Afterward, staff pulled off their real jobs spend the week entering pledges and chasing card details.
Trellis does the opposite. Before the event, your team pulls what it needs directly from Raiser's Edge NXT and Trellis, with no chasing the event planner, no manual exports and no re-entering data that already exists.
On the night, staff walk in and it just works, with no prior training required: hundreds of guests are checked in within minutes, and everything volunteers need is in front of them proactively, so the event planner gets to be present rather than stressed and fielding questions. Trellis runs at 99.99% uptime, published live for anyone to check at status.trellis.org, and we build the product so it does not need a person from our company standing in your ballroom.
After the event, the data is already where it needs to be. St. Bernard's Healthcare read its paddle raise total from the stage ten minutes after the ask, where it had previously been announced the following day.
The line we hear most often after a first Trellis event is a customer's: "my team doesn't dislike me anymore."
The problem
Texting in one tool, giving in another, event revenue in a third.
An SMS vendor sends the message, a donation form collects the gift, an auction tool runs the bidding and a ticketing platform holds the guest list. Four exports meet in a spreadsheet.
The message, the gift and the event record live in one system. Our outbound texts are event-triggered or scheduled, all customizable, sent to predefined recipient groups that take seconds to pick, and any of them can carry a text-to-donate link, giving sits beside ticketing, check-in and auction, Donate Auction Bid and full-page upsells lift what each moment raises, and there is no shortcode provisioning, carrier approval or keyword leasing, which removes the setup lead time and monthly minimums that shortcode programs carry.

Pricing
Trellis is $5,000 per year, flat. Text-first giving is included with the event platform rather than sold as a per-message add-on, and there is no shortcode lease, monthly minimum, per-event fee, percentage of funds raised or charge for onsite staff. Transaction fees are 0% or 3.5% + $0.30. With 0% Transaction Fees turned on, Trellis covers the fee on eligible checkouts under $3,000 and your guests are offered the option to add a small contribution at checkout; if they decline, we still cover it. Checkouts over $3,000, and back-office entries through the Sales Entry System or Check-In Tool, are charged at 3.5% + $0.30, and you choose whether your organization or the purchaser covers them.
We are not the lowest headline number here, and several platforms are free for a standalone text-to-donate link. Price the whole event before you decide. On a $200,000 event, OneCause lands around $11,000 to $14,000 once its 5% or annual fee, 3% to 4% processing and a quoted onsite staffer are counted; Givebutter is free to you but asks your guests to tip about 15%, or costs about $11,800 with tips off; Trellis is $5,000, and with 0% fees on the total usually lands very close to that, because few checkouts run above $3,000. An organization running Raiser's Edge NXT has already invested tens of thousands of dollars in its CRM; the platform that writes into it correctly, and gives your database administrator back two to five weeks after every event, is worth more than the one that hands back a payout report. At the $500,000 event our typical customer runs, the gap widens: OneCause lands around $43,000 to $45,000 once its 5% fee, 3% to 4% processing and an onsite staffer are counted, Givebutter runs about $29,500 with tips off, and Trellis stays close to $5,000 with 0% fees on.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
We are the only platform that actually integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT in real time, and it is the reason most of our customers chose us. Every other platform in this guide that lists Raiser's Edge or Blackbaud as an integration gets there through a file export, an import plug-in your database team runs after the event, a paid middleware subscription that customers tell us typically adds thousands of dollars a year, or a messaging connector that never carries the gift at all.
Because every text link is tied to a donor record, when a donor gives, we match them to an existing Raiser's Edge NXT constituent or create a new one, applying your spouse and household rules so a couple never becomes two records.
As the event runs, each ticket, sponsorship, winning bid, paddle raise pledge and donation is written as its own gift rather than a lump transaction, with campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping applied as the gift lands and fair market value and fees handled the way your Finance team configured them.
Attendance is written to the Raiser's Edge NXT event module, so next year's appeal can query who actually came. Sponsorship and organization gifts have their own rules.
The settings run nine sections deep and cover four levels: campaign, fund, package and appeal mapping; constituent matching with spouse and household rules; the event module and participation records; and gift type. For every one integration point most competitors offer, we have roughly twenty. What customers tell us after their first event is not that it is better than the last integration. It is that it works.
Setup
We can move as fast as you can. Setting up banking, the Raiser's Edge NXT integration and your first event takes one to two weeks, and no shortcode provisioning or carrier approval is required at any point; the four to eight weeks you will hear from other vendors is the runway for ticket sales to run, not setup time.
Setup is self-guided, with in-product tutorials and training moments that walk your team through each part of the event journey, and our team available at every step with same-day email responses to every question, including a Raiser's Edge NXT mapping session with your database administrator and a walkthrough of the paddle raise flow with whoever is running the stage and AV if you want them. There is no mandatory series of onboarding calls to get through before you launch. Mapping is done once and carries to every event.
Event-night staff and volunteers need no training on the platform; onboarding is for your database administrator and event lead.
Tradeoffs
We are built for giving inside fundraising events, not year-round SMS marketing: there are no keyword-and-shortcode campaigns, no drip sequences and no large-scale outbound list messaging. Organizations wanting those should look at Tatango or a dedicated SMS vendor.
We are not the lowest headline price, and free donation platforms are sufficient for organizations that do not need CRM-level data integrity; price what free gates and what your guests will be asked to tip. We do not send staff to your venue and we do not sell emergency day-of support packages, because the product is built so you do not need them. We are the only company in this space that works this way; every customer is nervous about it before their first event, and the testimonials after that first event are the reason we keep doing it. Recurring giving programs and year-round donation page management sit outside the product.
Organizations not on Raiser's Edge NXT get less of the core differentiator, and we have fewer public reviews than the established names here.
Support
Our support model is built around a product that works: 99.99% uptime, published live at status.trellis.org, check-in and checkout screens that tell volunteers what to do, and the most robust in-product tutorials and training moments in this category. Onboarding is for the core team, not the room, and it moves as fast as you do.
The database administrator maps Raiser's Edge NXT once. The event lead builds the event with guided tutorials and can bring us in at any step by chat or screen share. There is no fixed series of calls to complete before you can launch.
On event night your team has a direct line to a named rep on our team rather than a ticket queue. What we do not do is send a junior staff member to stand in your ballroom. Customers who have paid for that elsewhere tell us the person could not fix anything when something went wrong, which is why we build the product so nothing does.
Mini Case Study
St. Bernard's Healthcare ran its paddle raise on Trellis with text-first giving. Guests pledged from their phones in seconds, and the foundation read the total from the stage ten minutes after the ask, where it had previously been announced the following day after the pledge cards were counted. #2
OneCause
Best Full-Service Event PlatformFundraising Tech Score: 6.1/10
OneCause, part of Bonterra, is the most recognized event fundraising platform in the sector. Text-to-donate is one feature inside a full event suite with mobile bidding, fund-a-need, ticketing and on-site staffing.
Product Overview
OneCause sends text-to-donate links tied to the event giving site and pairs them with fund-a-need appeals and scoreboards for the room, mobile bidding, ticketing and table management, express check-in and peer-to-peer. Its giving model is a text-to-donate link.
Pricing
Pay-as-you-go from $200 per event with a 5% platform fee on funds raised, which OneCause says is capped, or the Professional Auction and Event package at $2,995 per year. Payment processing is charged on top, with review sites reporting rates from about 2.9% + $0.30 to roughly 4%, and on-site staffing is an additional service. For a $200,000 event that puts the realistic total at $11,000 to $14,000 once a staffer and processing are included, against a $2,995 headline.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
Not a native sync. OneCause's Raiser's Edge NXT integration is Importacular for OneCause, a plug-in from Zeidman Development that runs inside the Raiser's Edge database view. Your team exports text gifts and event data from OneCause, then imports them through Importacular with a saved mapping.
It removes hand-keying, but it is still an export-and-import step your database team runs after the event, which is why Blackbaud Community users describe flat files going back and forth and why reconciliation on OneCause is measured in weeks rather than hours.
Setup
Sales-led, six to ten weeks for a first event.
Tradeoffs
Priced for a full event calendar, and the Raiser's Edge NXT depth is the objection Blackbaud customers raise most. G2 rates OneCause 4.7 across roughly 500 reviews with support the most praised strength. If you want vendor staff running the appeal display on the night, it is the safest choice here.
#3
Givebutter
Free Online Giving and Small EventsFundraising Tech Score: 4.8/10
Givebutter is a free fundraising platform funded by donor tips, with donation forms, events, auctions, a built-in CRM and, on the paid Plus tier, outbound texting.
Product Overview
Givebutter sends text-to-donate links from any campaign page and adds ticketing, auctions with outbid texts, livestream and a live display for the room. Outbound texting to supporter lists is part of Givebutter Plus. Its giving model is a text-to-donate link.
Pricing
Free to the nonprofit with tips enabled, with the suggested tip defaulting to about 15% at checkout. Disable tips and a platform fee applies: a flat 3% on Standard pricing for accounts created since 2025, or 1% to 5% by campaign type on Legacy pricing. Processing is 2.9% + $0.30. In June 2026 a class action was filed in Pennsylvania (McClintock v. Givebutter) alleging that fees were added to donations without donors' consent; the case is pending and the allegations are unproven. Givebutter Plus, which includes texting, starts at $29 per month for under 250 contacts and $79 for up to 1,000.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
Not native, and not free. Givebutter's Raiser's Edge NXT integration is powered by Omatic, a third-party integration platform with its own pricing, so the free platform's CRM sync is a paid add-on from another vendor.
Gift sync with campaign, fund and appeal mapping was still an open request on Givebutter's own community board in 2025. Text gifts reach Raiser's Edge NXT through Omatic's mapping or through a payout export.
Setup
Same day.
Tradeoffs
Outbound texting costs extra and is billed by contact count, and event platform fees apply when tips are off. Paddle raise controls are lighter than the event platforms. G2 rates Givebutter 4.7 across more than 2,000 reviews. For a small organization wanting a free giving link with a CRM attached, it is a strong start.
#4
Snowball
Best Text-First Fundraising SuiteFundraising Tech Score: 4.7/10
Snowball is a fundraising platform built around text giving, with auctions, mobile donation pages, event pages and outbound text and email for nonprofits and faith-based organizations.
Product Overview
With Snowball, donors text a keyword, receive a giving link and complete the gift on a mobile page, with card on file for repeat gifts. Outbound text blasts, auctions, campaign pages and event pages sit in the same account. Its giving model is keyword to text-to-give link.
Pricing
The Essential plan is free with processing fees only. Premium is $549 per year, with Professional and Enterprise tiers above it. Snowball charges no platform fee on paid plans beyond the annual subscription and per-transaction processing.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Snowball exports donor and gift data as spreadsheets, and its integration list does not include any Blackbaud product. Every text gift reaches the CRM by import.
Setup
Days. No shortcode lease is required for the standard keyword setup.
Tradeoffs
The CRM integration list is thin, so the reconciliation into Raiser's Edge NXT is manual. Review volume is small: Capterra rates Snowball 4.8 across roughly 16 reviews. For a team that wants text giving, outbound texts and an auction in one inexpensive tool without a CRM to feed, it is a tidy package.
#5
Give Lively
Best Free Text-to-DonateFundraising Tech Score: 4.3/10
Give Lively is a philanthropist-funded fundraising platform that is free to member nonprofits, with text-to-donate, campaign pages, event ticketing, peer-to-peer and a live display for events.
Product Overview
With Give Lively, donors text a custom keyword to the shared shortcode 44321 and receive a link to a mobile giving form, while a live display shows gifts arriving during the event. Ticketing and peer-to-peer are included. Its giving model is keyword to shared shortcode.
Pricing
Free. Give Lively charges nonprofits nothing; members pay only Stripe and PayPal processing. Membership requires 501(c)(3) status and an application.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Give Lively's native CRM integration is Salesforce, used by more than 1,000 member nonprofits, and reviewers regularly ask for a second one. Blackbaud users export and batch, and a Blackbaud Community thread asking whether Give Lively text-to-donate connects to Raiser's Edge went unanswered.
Setup
Days after membership approval.
Tradeoffs
Reviewers ask for a CRM integration beyond Salesforce and note that not every donor's data is captured depending on payment method. Customization is limited and there is no auction or paddle raise tooling. G2 scores Give Lively 9.7 for support and reviewers on Capterra rate it highly for value. For a free text-to-donate link with a live display, nothing here beats it.
#6
Donorbox
Best for Donation-Form-Led ProgramsFundraising Tech Score: 3.8/10
Donorbox is a donation form and recurring giving platform with a text-to-give add-on, event ticketing and a growing CRM, used by more than 100,000 organizations.
Product Overview
With Donorbox, donors text a standard phone number or a custom keyword to a shortcode and receive a giving link, and repeat gifts complete in a reply. Donation forms, crowdfunding, peer-to-peer and ticketing are in the same account. Its giving model is keyword to standard number or custom shortcode.
Pricing
The Standard plan has no subscription but a 2.95% platform fee on donations and 3.95% on events and memberships, plus processing. Pro is $150 per month with reduced platform fees. Text-to-give is an add-on at $19 per month for a standard number or $50 per month for a custom keyword and shortcode.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
No native Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Donorbox connects to Salesforce and HubSpot directly and to everything else through Zapier and its API, both of which sit on the $150 per month Pro plan. A Zapier build can create constituents; gift-level fund attribution is beyond what it supports, so text gifts reach Raiser's Edge NXT as an import.
Setup
Days.
Tradeoffs
Platform fees compound across campaign types, event and auction tooling is thin, and Donorbox's policy prohibits raffles. Capterra rates Donorbox 4.8 across roughly 625 reviews, and recurring giving is its strength. If your program is donation forms first and events second, it fits.
#7
Tithe.ly
Best for ChurchesFundraising Tech Score: 3.6/10
Tithe.ly is a church giving and management platform with online, app, kiosk and text giving, used by more than 50,000 churches.
Product Overview
With Tithe.ly, donors text a keyword or amount to the church's number and complete the gift on a mobile form, with recurring giving and Cover the Fees available. Church management, website and app products bundle around it. Its giving model is text-to-give keyword to link.
Pricing
Text giving is $19 per month after a 30-day trial. Processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on cards and 1% + $0.30 on ACH; Tithe.ly says an average of 58% of donors choose to cover fees. Bundles run $72 and $119 per month.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
No Raiser's Edge NXT integration. Tithe.ly integrates with church management systems, principally its own and Breeze, and has no Blackbaud connector. Gifts reach a nonprofit CRM by export.
Setup
Days.
Tradeoffs
Built for congregations, not for gala paddle raises or auctions, and there is no nonprofit CRM sync. Capterra rates Tithe.ly 4.7 across roughly 690 reviews. For a church running weekly giving, it is priced and shaped correctly.
#8
Tatango
Best for Large-List SMS ProgramsFundraising Tech Score: 3.5/10
Tatango is an SMS marketing platform for high-volume nonprofit and political messaging, built around dedicated shortcodes and able to send millions of messages an hour.
Product Overview
Tatango leases and provisions dedicated shortcodes and runs keyword campaigns, segmentation, automation and compliance workflows for opt-in and opt-out, with an API for connected systems. Giving is completed on a linked page from the organization's own donation platform. Its giving model is dedicated shortcode SMS.
Pricing
Shortcode leases run $500 per month for a random code and $1,000 for a vanity code, with a 60% nonprofit discount to $200 and $400 for eligible 501(c)(3)s. Message credit packages start at $199 per month for 2,000 credits and $399 for 5,000. Carrier fees are passed through, and provisioning takes four to six weeks.
Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
A messaging connector, not a gift sync. Tatango lists Blackbaud among its CRM connectors alongside Salesforce, EveryAction and Virtuous, but Tatango is a messaging platform: the connector carries subscriber and messaging data, and the gift itself is recorded by whichever donation platform the link points to. Raiser's Edge NXT gets phone numbers and opt-ins from Tatango, not gifts.
Setup
Four to six weeks for shortcode registration, faster with a 10DLC number.
Tradeoffs
Tatango is a messaging platform, not a giving platform, and it is priced for lists in the tens of thousands. Reviewers on Software Advice note price increases. For an appeal to a large list it is the right tool; for a 400-guest paddle raise it is the wrong shape.
How We Built This Guide
We began with the situations that bring fundraisers to this search. Gifts were lost at the login screen. A paddle raise moved too fast for a form. Mobile gifts arrived in Raiser's Edge NXT unattributed. Nobody was sure whether they needed text to give or text to donate.
A shortcode quote arrived with setup fees and monthly minimums. Texting, giving and event revenue lived in three tools.
We verified pricing against each vendor's published pricing page or review-site listing in September 2026, read each vendor's integration documentation to separate constituent-level matching from a payout report, and used G2, Capterra and the Blackbaud Community for recurring patterns. The weights are above. Where we could not verify a claim, we left it out.
This guide is for a Director of Development and an events coordinator reading together, with a database administrator checking the integration claims and an annual giving lead checking consent and compliance. It should get you to two vendor calls with the right questions.
What Features to Look For in a Text to Give Platform
Every text to give platform promises a link in a text. We measured each against the problems that link is supposed to solve, in the order the scoring weights rank them.
1
Constituent Matching, Not a Payout Report
If last year's mobile gifts arrived as phone numbers and amounts, look for a platform that matches each gift to an existing Raiser's Edge NXT constituent with fund and appeal attribution applied and pledge status tracked. Ask to see a text gift on a constituent record. Among these eight, only Trellis, our own platform, does this natively.
2
Text-Link Giving With No Password or App
If donors dropped off at registration, test the path from text to completed gift on a phone. Count the taps, check whether an account or app is required, and ask what happens when the donor's details are incomplete.
3
Pledge Capture When Card Details Are Not to Hand
If your paddle raise loses gifts to the form, look for pledge capture with a name and email only, pre-seeded gifts, volunteer manual entry and a live display the stage and AV team can run.
4
Event-Triggered Messaging
If your texts are generic broadcasts, look for messages tied to what is happening: outbid alerts, check-in confirmations with table numbers, paddle raise prompts. They land because they are relevant.
5
Consent, Opt-Out and Compliance Written Back to the CRM
If your communications team is asking about compliance, confirm how consent is captured, how opt-outs are handled, and which of those records the platform writes back to Raiser's Edge NXT.
6
Pricing Without Shortcode Surprises
If a quote arrived with leasing fees and minimums, price the full program: shortcode lease, setup, monthly minimums, per-message costs, platform fees, processing and per-event versus annual terms. Magic-link and link-based platforms carry none of the shortcode line items.
Text to Give Platform Pricing Comparison
Text giving is priced in four layers, and most budgets only see one. The platform subscription or platform fee. Processing fees. Per-message or credit costs. And, for shortcode programs, a monthly lease plus setup. A "free" platform recovers its cost through donor tips or processing, and an SMS platform through the lease. A flat annual fee with 0% transaction fees on eligible checkouts under $3,000 (Trellis) is the only model here where the number does not move with what you raise.
Pricing as of September 2026. Contact each vendor directly for current information.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do text to give programs work?
A donor texts a keyword to a number, or taps a link the organization sends, and completes the gift on a mobile page charged to a card or bank account. Carrier-billed giving capped at $5 or $10 is largely gone.
The differences between platforms are whether a login is required, whether the gift is matched to a donor record, and whether a shortcode lease sits behind it.
What is the difference between text to give and text to donate?
Text to give usually means the donor initiates by texting a keyword to a shortcode. Text to donate usually means the organization sends a text containing a giving link. In practice fundraisers use the terms interchangeably to mean "can my donors give from a text without a password.
Trellis, our own platform, uses a third model: a no-login text link tied to the donor's own record.
How much does a text to give platform cost?
From free to several hundred dollars a month, and the headline number is rarely the real one. Give Lively is free with processing only. Tithe.ly and Donorbox charge $19 to $50 per month for text giving on top of processing or a 2.95% to 3.95% platform fee. Snowball Premium is $549 per year. Givebutter is free with donor tips of about 15%, or a 3% platform fee plus 2.9% + $0.30 without. Tatango shortcode leases run $200 to $1,000 per month plus message credits. OneCause runs $200 per event plus a 5% platform fee, or $2,995 per year, plus processing and quoted onsite staff. Trellis is a flat $5,000 per year with text giving included, 0% transaction fees on eligible checkouts under $3,000 and 3.5% + $0.30 above that.
Which text to give platforms for nonprofits integrate with Raiser's Edge NXT?
Trellis, our own platform, is the only one in this guide that integrates with Raiser's Edge NXT in real time, matching mobile gifts to constituents and records them at gift level with appeal mapping.
OneCause moves data through Importacular, a third-party import plug-in, and Givebutter through Omatic's paid platform. Tatango's Blackbaud connector carries messaging data rather than gifts. Snowball, Give Lively, Donorbox and Tithe.ly have no Raiser's Edge NXT integration at all.
Is there free text-to-give software for nonprofits?
Yes. Give Lively is free to member nonprofits with processing only. Snowball's Essential plan and Givebutter's core platform are free with processing or donor tips. Free tiers do not include CRM integration or event-night support, and Donorbox's free plan carries a 2.95% platform fee plus a paid text add-on, so verify what free includes.
How long does it take to set up text to give before an event?
Days for link-based platforms such as Givebutter, Snowball, Tithe.ly and Donorbox. Days after membership approval for Give Lively. Four to six weeks for a dedicated shortcode on Tatango. One to two weeks for Trellis including Raiser's Edge NXT mapping, with no shortcode provisioning required at any point.
Do donors need an app or an account to give by text with Trellis?
No. Donors receive a text with a no-login link that opens their account instantly with no username, password or app download. A gift or pledge is one more tap, and donors with incomplete records can pledge with a name and email. The gift syncs to Raiser's Edge NXT matched to their constituent record.
